Articles100G IP Backbone – Verizon’s Got It
We have a strong history with Verizon, including the successful trial we completed back in Q1 2010 in conjunction with NEC Corporation of America and Finisar. At that time, we announced the successful completion of the first real traffic 100 gigabits per second (100G) optical fiber transmission field trial by applying standards-based optics end-to-end and using the latest in 100G native router interfaces
So what does Verizon’s deployment demonstrate about the industry? Network traffic is growing exponentially and 100G is critical for meeting the increasing bandwidth demand on service providers’ backbone networks.
Juniper’s vision for the new network is built around flexible and scalable networks, including 100G services that are open, dynamic and secure. Our 100G capabilities are designed from the ground up to support these new and emerging applications and network architectures. With 100G on both optical and IP layers, customers can gain not only from capacity increases, but from new network efficiencies. Juniper has continued to lead the industry in high-speed networking and we are very pleased to be working with Verizon to deliver the high-speed network their customers need. |
